Podcasting is all grown up.
It’s hard to remember how different things were just over 5 years ago when we launched our first podcast.
Zoom wasn’t a thing. No one had ever heard of Zencastr or Riverside either. Apple Podcasts (called iTunes back then) accounted for 90% of all downloads and 93% of shows were hosted by men.
A lot of good things have changed since then making recording and publishing a podcast much easier. The software, the publishing tools, and the hosts (Like Libsyn, Megaphone and others) have all made podcasting easier.
One thing that hasn’t changed enough; women-hosted shows are STILL only about 21% of all podcasts!
If you look at the top 100 podcasts in any category women hosted shows will only have 20 of those spots – sometimes even less!
We’re going to change all that!
The SoundAdvice Podcast Network is here to elevate and amplify women’s voices.
Phyllis Nichols
Founder, CEO
Phyllis is the founder of SoundAdvice Strategies, a podcast production company. She’s best known for helping clients create unique audio experiences for their listeners. Authors, small business owners and other creatives use their podcasts to tell stories, inspire audiences, and build real connections. Phyllis and the SoundAdvice team make sure they sound great and handle all the tech and marketing details.
She’s a salesperson at heart, who found her way to podcasts on a dare. Her husband (and business partner) was her one-man production team. Humble beginnings.
No one is more delighted than Phyllis that her previous sales-consulting work turned into amplifying and selling the messages of her clients.
In between listening to podcasts you will find her with a book or checking out live music or practicing piano. She’s an avid list-maker which feeds her office supply addiction and gives her a way to keep track of all the podcast ideas that pop up daily.
